I hesitate to use the term "farming" since any real farmer would laugh at our small, amateur operation. This is a "gentleman's" farm, to put in nicely, but we enjoy the work and the food. Tom, who lives just down the road, handles things for us when we are not there. He has his own operation and always wins blue ribbons the late summer fairs for his prize heifers.
However, our root cellar is always stocked with potatoes and apples as well as shallots, onions and garlic. We make a lot of maple syrup these days. We also have plenty of honey from the bees. We make and freeze our own cider as well.
It's fun. It's good for the kids. We also like eating what we grow. At least we know what went into it (and what didn't).
